Who is Lord of your life? Is it Jesus? Really? Are you sure? What about all the other voices in your head? What about all the influences seen and unseen?

I don’t know if you followed much of the furore in the last few months over the popular blogger Jen Hatmaker - I know that I only really delved into it following Mike Frost’s post. I don’t know if you read the reactions to Steve Chalke being asked to leave the Evangelical Alliance. I don’t know if you said farewell to Rob Bell with John Piper.

Church Plants are the most effective means of evangelism….

There this no single term for family in the New Testament. The word oikos, meaning house (of) or household, included the householder’s family, slaves, friends and neighbours. People in my regular sphere of influence are my oikos. At the heart of oikos are natural relationships, which can form regardless of age, social class and background.

The future leadership of the church must not continue to be marked by the clericalism that we see still manifest in the one-man ministry of so many churches.

Jesus called His disciples to follow His example in serving others in just those ways. It seems Jesus was calling his followers to a ministry of the mundane, serving other people in ways which would go largely unnoticed, unrewarded and unrecognised.
